Basic Client Proposal

Basic Client Proposal is a free Notion template for the document you send before a project starts — the one that settles scope, budget and timeline while both sides can still change their minds cheaply. It is built for freelance web and app work, and it is one page long on purpose.

Budget and timeline

The proposal opens on a callout holding the numbers a client reads first: estimated timeline, estimated budget, the proposed stack, when you can start, and which browsers are supported. The worked example splits the estimate by whether design is included, which is the question that moves a quote most.

Platforms and stakeholders

A second callout answers what you are building and who will use it. Platforms lists what actually gets delivered — a user-facing site, an admin panel — and stakeholders names who each one is for. It takes a minute to fill in and heads off the scope argument that arrives in week three.

Feature specification

The last section breaks the build into features under collapsible toggles — authentication, admin management, categories, dashboards — so a client can see exactly what the final product includes without reading a spec document.

Why use a proposal template

Because the misunderstandings are always about the same four things: what is being built, for whom, by when, and for how much. Answering all four in one page makes the proposal quick to write, quick to read, and hard to disagree with later.
